About the raw material
Eucalyptus is a plant genus in the myrtle family, with many different species of evergreen shrubs and trees, including some of the world's tallest trees. Common to all eucalyptus trees is that they all contain essential oils, which can vary greatly in composition from species to species. The leaves of most types have a very strong eucalyptus scent, some with overtones of lemon or peppermint.
The flower buds of eucalyptus trees open through a forked cover formed by the calyx and crown. The flowers are characterised by numerous, coloured stamens.
The eucalyptus flowers are a strong attraction for the honeybees, from which comes a very golden and creamy honey with a harmonious and spicy taste without tasting directly of eucalyptus.
