Organic honey at Jakobsens®

At Jakobsens we have a wide range of organic honey. Everything from the sweet acacia honey to our agave syrups.

Our organic honeys come from the nectar of organic crops and/or wild vegetation. The organic label is your assurance that the honey has been produced according to state-controlled organic production methods and that the environment, nature and animal welfare have been taken into account during production. Because we want to give you the choice.

How can honey be organic?

Organic honey has to meet high standards, which is why there are relatively few places in Denmark where organic honey can be produced.

The requirement for organic honey in Denmark is that 95 percent of the area within a 3 kilometer radius must be organic. Bees travel within a radius of up to 3 km from the apiary. Therefore, the rules on organic honey stipulate that apiaries producing organic honey must be located so that nectar and pollen sources within a 3 km radius consist of organic crops and/or wild vegetation.

When producing organic honey, it is also important that beekeepers comply with the rules on feeding, disease prevention and the condition of the hives. The rules on organic farming - including organic honey - are laid down in the EU Organic Regulation.
