Three tips for a balanced morning

  1. Start the day with a good and nutritious meal

A balanced breakfast helps you get a good start to the day. A good breakfast should contain an adequate amount of good carbohydrates, healthy fats, protein and fibre. A good breakfast can be anything from the classic and filling oatmeal - to a delicious chia porridge that's easy to take on the go - or a lovely and colourful smoothie bowl with lots of delicious fruit and granola full of nuts and seeds.

  1. Drink plenty of water

There are lots of good reasons to make it a routine to start your morning with a big glass of water. During the night, the body excretes a lot of waste products - a glass of water can help the body to flush them out. In addition, a glass of water can help wake up your stomach naturally and prepare it for food.

  1. Get your body moving with three yoga exercises

Start your morning in balance with these three calm yoga exercises. By starting your day with a few simple exercises, you can wake up your body in a comfortable and energising way. Yoga doesn't have to take hours - just set aside 15 minutes of your morning for a few exercises that will add value to the rest of your day.

Exercise 1 - Mountain stance - Focus on balance and posture

Stand up straight and place your feet parallel to each other, hip-width apart. Turn your palms slightly forward. Stand with your back straight and push your chest forward. Keep your head directly above your hips and make sure your chin is pointing straight ahead. Now close your eyes and take a few deep breaths deep into your belly and find a good balance on your feet.

Exercise 2 - Standing side stretch - Warming up/stretching the back

Start in upright position. Point both arms towards the ceiling. Now slowly sway to one side at a time while tensing your body, keeping your feet on the ground and pushing your chest forward. Sway only so far out that you have full control of your entire body.

Exercise 3 - Child's position - Focus on calm and breathing

Sit on your knees and take them well out to the side without pushing too hard. Bring your big toes together, put your forehead on the floor and stretch your arms out in front of you, elbows on the floor. Now breathe calmly and be present in your body.
